THE FACTS OF THE MATTER!!

Recently a forum was held at PS 270. Somehow and by someone it was implied that the Resident Association was a co-sponsor of the forum and candidate. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT the case. No one connected to the Executive Board, The Resident or Youth Associations of Lafayette Gardens endorsed this event or candidate. It is forbidden in our bylaws for us to endorse a candidate as an organization.

Someone managed to rally 1 or 2 residents, who do not live in Lafayette Gardens, to pass out flyers and promote a meeting under the guise it was an officially endorsed Association event. Residents who were in control of the Resident Association for more than 20 years and did nothing more than fill their pockets are now active a in game of charades, hoping to regain control with assistance of political hopefuls.

The fact is, the event was not endorsed, co sponsored or organized with the permission or participation of any members of the Resident or Youth Association Boards.

Fortunately, the event was attended by members and for the most part it was a complaint session.

.....We have a Youth Association with it's own operating board and officers. They meet monthly and have a number of programs, trips and activities within Lafayette Gardens and the Community. These operate daily in 2 locations, our Community and Resident Centers with more than 30 students active participating.

.....Our Resident Association is led by an active and dedicated Elected Board of 6 residents with more than 100 members. "The Board" has established 12 ongoing and successful programs and initiatives within the short six months it has been in office.

.....The Executive Boards of the Resident and Youth Association are available upon request to present our records, budget and books at any given time they are requested under the IRS and Not for Profit Federal guidelines. Members can see the change and where their money is going, unlike the past 20 years.

.....Any and all candidates wishing to receive and capitalize from the support of Lafayette Gardens and the extended Lafayette Gardens Community should make an effort to approach us honestly, openly and fairly before assuming they have our support in the bag!

Remember, many will come and go with sales pitches and discount coupons for things you already have or use! The grass is not always greener on the other side. If it is not broke why fix it?
