COMMUNITY ACTION AND RESPECT!
Our president was recently invited to speak at the Bedford Stuyvesant Interagency Council of the Aging monthly meeting to introduce the exciting and important services we provide for seniors in the community of Lafayette Gardens.The B.S.I.C.A. is a collaboration of agencies who provide a variety of services and advocacy for the Senior population of Brooklyn. The current chairwoman and president is Dr. Kim Best a very well known champion of social and community advocacy in NYC. Regular meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, all are welcome.
TYree Stanback, president of the Resident Association of Lafayette Gardens, was well received and spoke about our Computer, Social Service and Adopt a Senior Programs and the importance of government lobbying to save these crucial programs throughout NYC and the country. This should be amongst our top priorities given the highly publicized recent closings of scores of senior housing, centers and meals programs. All of which directly effect the senior population of Lafayette Gardens and Bedford Stuyvesant.
