EYE ON THE COMMUNITY WITH "OLA"

GREETINGS AND BLESSINGS!!!

*This past weekend, I visited 3 churches in the southern and central parts of the 57th Assembly District. I addressed parishioners about the the true meaning of Thanksgiving, hunger and the importance of donating to our local soup kitchens and food pantries. It's unfortunate that although the United States of America is the wealthiest nation in the world, too many families - most especially children go to bed on a nightly basis hungry. Attached is a list of food pantries in the 57th Assembly District. Please feel free to make a donation financially or of a non-perishable/canned good.

- Presentation and Open Discussion on the Medgar Evers Campus Quad Project – the proposal to close Crown Street (b/w Bedford and Franklin Avenues) for the establishment of a Landscaped Pedestrian Plaza for use by the College and the Community.

***Lastly, earlier today I joined the staff and members of District Council 37 along with elected officials on the city and state levels for a N.Y.C. Congressional Briefing on the "Impact of Federal Funds on Jobs and Services." As officials in Washington, D.C. continue to
deliberate on ways to reduce spending and the national deficit - it's important that we understand the effect on our local communities.
