The Brooklyn West District Council of Presidents proudly held it's Inauguration and Awards Ceremony on Friday November 17th at the Williamsburg Community Center. The event was beautiful and upbeat with performances by the renown "Gowanus Wildcat Steppers" and Asase Yaa African American Dance Theater. Musical Selections were provided by the fabulous vocalist Margaret Williams of Coney Island Houses.
Highlights of the evening included a full Home Cooked Holiday Dinner prepared by the presidents and served by the Youth Associations of Tompkins Houses and Lafayette Gardens. The Executive Board elect was sworn in by NYC Civil Court Judge Robin Sheares, who joyously and courageously swore in
Raymond Ballard, District Chair and President of Sumner Houses
Charlene Nimmons, Vice Chair and President of Wyckoff Houses
Cassandra Hurrell, Treasurer and President of Bed-Sty Rehabs
Naomi Colon, Secretary and President of Marcy Houses
TYree Stanback, Sergeant at Arms and President of Lafayette Gardens
A host of local community leaders, residents and elected officials attended the Awards Ceremony and Dinner. Special appreciation to the residents of Lafayette Gardens who attended and supported the event and congratulations for a job well done to the members of the Youth Association who worked the event.
The Brooklyn West District Council of Presidents is the collective body of all presidents from the 26 developments within the western Brooklyn district of NYCHA.
