Dear Constituent:

Happy News Year! As I reflect upon the last four years as your Democratic State Committeewoman/District
Leader, it has truly been an honor to serve you. I am writing this letter to inform you of our top 5 accomplishments over the past year along with my future goals. They are as follows:

1) Sponsored three public demonstrations in conjunction with the New York City Board of Elections of the new Omaha-based Election Systems & Software which replaced our lever operated voting machines. The demonstrations were held at the Willoughby Walk Cooperative Apts., the Teunis G. Bergen School (P.S. 9) and Medgar Evers College.
2) Coordinated the 2nd Annual Community Food Drive to benefit food pantries sponsored by the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Crown Heights and the Child Development Support Corporation (CDSC), located on the border of Clinton Hil and Bedford-Stuyvesant. District Council 37, one of our sponsors, was our largest contributor. Staff, officers and members of the Union made a monetary contribution along with donating seven large boxes of food.
3) Coordinated a community fundraiser for the George H. Murray Preparatory Academy of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Although the school is located in the 56th Assembly District, several members of the church along with students, faculty and staff members live in our district. The event generated an amount in the range of five figures.
4) Co-Sponsored forums on Healthcare, The Offce of the New York State Attorney General, Fire Safety, Education, Housing, the Legal System and several other topics.
5) Assisted in resolving a wide variety of constituent complaints (i.e. traffic and transportation, housing, crime and safety, etc.).

I'm especially pleased that over the past year, our list of constituents who receive the e-mail community newsletter introduced two years ago has grown to over 1,000. Our work has resulted in Community Service awards from the Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church in Clinton Hills, The Lafayette Gardens Tenant Association and the Jobs for Youth Apprenticeship Program at Medgar Evers College.

However, while I am pleased with much of what we have been able to achieve, there is still so much more work to be done and I look forward to partnering with you in the future.
Finally, let me express my profound gratitude to so many of you for re-electing me as your State
Committeewoman/District Leader.

As you know, the Primary Election was held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Our slogan was "Leadership We Can Trust" and I'm proud to inform you that we captured approximately 60% of the vote and won by 14 percentage points. Essentially, our victory was decisive and it was my first contested race since I was first elected in 2006. I'm especially grateful because, since first being elected, our campaigns in 2006 and 2010 have received the highest number of votes for the office of State Committee/District Leader in the sixth Assembly District along with the most eclectic support. The New York City Board of Elections provides the Election Results & Statistics for all races via internet and I strongly encourage you to review them on a regular basis at ww.vote.nyc.ny.us.

As you may know, such races are truly grassroots elections where incumbents do not benefit from having semi-annual tax-payer funded newsletters, staff, and offices to keep you abreast of our activities. One area of concern is that according to the New York City Board of Elections, over 1,000 people who voted in the 2010 Primary in our district, opted not to vote in the race. This concept is known as drop-off voting and occurs mainly because many are unfamiliar with the post of State Committee/District Leader.

My hope moving forward is to change that and to focus on activities to assist parents and students who are enrolled in our Public Educational System.

Let's continue to serve our communities, demand accountability with all elected offcials, including myself, while remaining prayerful, patient, and determined.

Thank you once again for granting me the opportunity to serve you, and I look forward to continue working with you for the betterment of our district.

Sincerely,
Olanike Alabi
