THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

Friday night was hot and heavy as the "Mothers, Grandmothers and women who are Motherly" stepped out in high fashion and style.

The men of Lafayette Gardens and the Handsome Moneymakers hosted a beautiful Dinner Dance. The evening was highlighted by true old school classics and favorites by resident DJ KAREEM, a romantic serenade by our very own "ALONZO". One of our child prodigies of song and voice!

The brothers of the "Handsome Money Makers" social group were on hand picking up the ladies at their homes and escorting them to the dance and catering to the ladies every wish, waiting on them hand and foot. And wait on them they did, serving a fabulous spread of BBQ Shrimp, Ham, Fried Chicken, Baked Chicken, Oxtails, Macaroni & Cheese, Tossed Salad, Corn Bread, Collard Greens and when they had them absolutely eating out of their hands, then came the Peach Cobbler and Pineapple Coconut Cake! The gentlemen made sure everyone received take home dinners as well.

After dinner the dancing kicked into high gear, check out the video and "say it ain't so", oh but it is! Great grandmothers and grandmothers throwing down on the dance floor "Electric Slide"! It only gets bigger and better with age.

The evening was a huge successful and and everyone enjoyed themselves. Many kudos to the young men who are "The HMM". They worked hard and put on a fabulous affair. They set up the event, picked up the guests, served the guests and then cleaned up. For many of the young men it was their first time planning, coordinating and executing a large scale event of their own and they stepped up to the plate big time! It is very big deal to know there are young men in our community breaking the lazy, untalented and reckless young men of color!
The HMM are Jameik, Darius, Deyvion, DaQuan, Lil Kevin, Seton and Alonzo.
Special appreciation to Gina Watkins of the NYCHA Brooklyn Community Operations Office, our gurl Ms. Linda for chaperoning, Brian Denman, "the money man", Leon and Mrs. Bert for finger biting good food. Big Kevin and Kareem for hours of work and support. Thanks to everyone who took the time to came out and support the association, the young people and our community. Finally thanks to Mrs Payne for keeping our secret!
