NEW PET POLICY IN EFFECT

If you own a pet it is IMPORTANT you understand the new pet policy that went into effect on February 1. 2010. NYCHA has amended the pet policy to only allow ACCEPTABLE breeds of DOGS that are "NO MORE THAN 25 POUNDS" when full grown. Simply put if you own a dog and it weighs more than 25 pounds or is on the barred breed list, now is the time to think of what or how you are going to deal with the situation! Management has been instructed and will begin administrative actions to have the pet removed or the tenants in cases of repeated infractions. Residents with legally registered and trained service or comfort animals with proper documentation are exempt from the new policy.

Some of the breeds that are specifically prohibited on NYCHA grounds are Rottweilers, Pitt Bulls and Doberman Pinchers. If you need clarification of the policy or imformation how it may impact you or your family we encourage you to immediately make an appointment with the housing assistant who can address concerns. We encourage you not to wait until it becomes an administrative action. Knowledge is Power!
